Lake Awoonga is the jewel on the Central Coast of Queensland. This is one place that you can catch barramundi both night and day 365 days a year.
For over ten years it has been stocked with fingerlings on a regular basis. Currently 250,000 Barramundi fingerlings are stocked in Lake Awoonga each year, with numbers fast approaching 3 million stocked fish. It has by far the most active stocking program of any Barra dam in the country, thus providing a brilliant fishery that can be challenging but incredibly rewarding.
Whether you're on a trip with your mates, towing your own boats, new to barramundi, or just want to join “the metre club” come and learn with one of the best.
An impressive aquatic environment rich of nutrients assist the biomass which has in turn contributed to fast growing mega sized barramundi, fish over 130cm and 70+ old fashioned pounds lurk the Lakes depths, and it's these fish that are the target.
An impressive consecutive year class of metre plus fish means that there is'an extremely high chance of hooking a fabled “metrey” however all sizes of Barra maybe encounted.
Casting both hard bodied lures, soft plastics, jigs and fly is the preferred method, however the fishing is totally flexible to meet customer needs and if trolling is your choice than this can be accommodated.
Tuition on casting methods, rod angles, knot tying and tackle preparation as well as different styles and techniques is all part of the day, with a strong emphasis on understanding the species and its habits will form the backbone of your charter.
Lunch is provided, with Fresh leg ham salad or chicken salad and assorted snacks served with a selection of cold beverages. Any dietary or special requests can be accommodated.

Lake Monduran Dam

Located approximately 20klms from the Town of Gin Gin, Monduran dam is a remarkable impoundment which presents many different challenges to the barra angler.
A huge body of water, Monduran dam is an impressive waterway which offers superb barra fishing 365 days a year.
The waterway travels over 30klms upstream from the dam wall, an open basin with weed fringes greets you and as you travel up stream the landscape changes to a maze of flooded forests and submerged timber.
